In May 2018, The Service League of Greenville established an endowed scholarship fund with the ECU Medical and Health Sciences Foundation, Inc. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the colleges and schools within the ECU Division of Health Sciences.

The first scholarship is to be awarded in 2019 and will be a Brody School of Medicine student. The administrator of the fund is the President of the ECU Medical and Health Sciences Foundation. The amount and terms of each scholarship and the recipient shall be determined in accordance with College, University and Foundation guidelines with consideration of the following:

1-First preference given to students who have been residents of Pitt County for at least three years

2-Second preference given to students who have been residents of Pitt County fewer than three years

3-Third preference given to students from the 28- county catchment area for Vidant (Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare , Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Green, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Washington, Wayne, or Wilson)

4-Preference given to students with financial need.

In addition, recipients must be a second year student in their respective program, must maintain good academic standing (3.2 GPA or B average or better), and demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
